the good stuff

Making me incredibly happy this week, is post from foreign parts.

After reading this post, I ordered a couple of brooches.  Owls, of course, and the words - well "hope" is working it's way into my life this year, so it had to be...

And then, out of the blue, a card and a very thoughtful gift from my friend Lisa.  I can't tell you how happy I was when I saw the envelope - even before I opened it.  You just can't overestimate the excitement caused by receiving post...

Also making me happy this week is family birthdays.  My Mom's and also both of my sisters-in-law, all in one week.  We're off to celebrate Mom's and one sister-in-law's this afternoon - lots of family gathered together = happy.

What's making you happy?

Inspired by my friend Lisa's post with photos of herself, and some newly received papers, and a sketch here, I also used some old favourites and came up with this layout.  Hello me x

the owl series

Some time last autumn, I came accross this blog.  Oh, my!  Post upon post of Owl-y goodness.

On this blog there is a gorgeous print-yourself calendar,  which I obviously had to have.  And then my friend Lisa e-mailed me with the link, as well.

I made the owl mask, and used it as part of my costume to a quiet Hallowe'en get together at my sister's.  Along with my owl t-shirt and an owl egg cosy, tucked into the outside pocket of my jacket, I really was an owl-lady!

the owl series

There's plenty more life in the owl series.

Here are two little beauties from Paperchase.

sea colours

Back in November, when I went to the craft show at the NEC, I bought a kit to knit some wristlets.  It consisted of a ball of sock wool, and instructions to knit a square, then sew into a tube, leaving a thumb hole - my type of knitting!  And I'd wanted some wristlets for some while, and the colours of the wool - so my colours.  Blues, and greens - and just a dash of orange.

My friend saw me knitting them, so for Christmas, she gave me the wool, needles and patterns to knit two scarves.  These are "fancy" yarns, and I'm still knitting the first one, as you have to pick up a loop in the yarn about an inch on from your current stitch, so it requires a LOT of my concentration...  But, look at the colours up there at the top, sea colours...

mushroom pot

It all started yesterday when I bought a new spice rack for the kitchen.

Actually, it started when I bought these mushrooms, a year ago.

But then I bought the spice rack, and ended up with some empty jars.

And, I already had the reindeer moss, just because I knew it would go with the mushrooms, somehow...

Then I  had an a-ha moment when i came across this post, and this happened
